The Complete Stories. New York: Farrar, Straus & Giroux, 1997.

[A complete collection of Malamud's fifty-five stories "arranged as accurately as possible in the order of composition rather than publication" according to the editor Robert Giroux (the "Introduction" of the book). I have found, however, contradictions in the order. With regard to the third story "The Grocery Store" which was supposed to have been "written in 1944" according to the "Sources" in The People and Uncollected Stories, it is in 1943 according to the "Appendix" here. Presumably, the story was written in 1943. A more serious mistake is the 23rd story "An Apology." It was first published in November, 1951, not in 1957; this will inevitably contradict "the order of composition."]
