Reasons for Attending College

      Nowadays, The number of people go to college or university. That is a best place which we can learn special field or gain special knowledge. So, if you are interested in something and want to study more, you should go university. I'm sure there is number of other reasons which drive people to attend there. For example, they want to study which they are interested in or they study hard for they get a job in the future or they come college to find what they want to do or they come the university vaguely...

     Now, I'll give you a example what started me on studying English through my experience, In my case, I'm interested in English. When I was a junior high student, I couldn't make myself understood to foreign teacher in English. I was very regretful. So that experience was motivated to me to study English. When we are in junior or high school, we only learn a grounding in English. But in university we can learn and gain more about technical knowledge. I do hope to speak English fluently not only that but I learn more other country's culture. I want to broaden my horizons and find new thing. In college unlike primary and secondary school, it's not enough just to memorize facts: it's more important for each student to attend lectures and learn to think for our self, I think. But we can't gain a lot of knowledge if we only attend school. We need to find goal or purpose. University has a lot of system which is very convenient for us. We should make the most of that system.

     In my opinion, university is a best place which we can learn special field or gain special knowledge. So, if you are interested in something and want to study more, you should go university. I'm sure there is number of other reasons which drive people to attend there. They want to study which they are interested in or they study hard for they get a job in the future or they come college to find what they want to do or they come the university vaguely...But people who come college has a purpose in some ways.

Experience or Books

      Which source is more important knowledge gained from experience or books? I think that knowledge gained from experience is more important.

     There is a difference between knowledge gained from experience and knowledge from books. Now, compare with them. First, books, we can see the story or explanation again and again. If I am at a loss what to do, I can through the book at once. Books also tell us a grounding expert knowledge. We can gain many things that we do not know or new information easily. So, we are able to learn a lot of things just we read. On the other hand experience is very good oneself. Also experience is linked directly with yourself. Through one's experience, we can gain acquirement or acquaintance. It also gives us knowledge through perception or sense.

     Comparatively speaking, I think that knowledge gained from experience is more important. For example, if you want to learn a lot about a country it is probably best to actually visit the country and live there a while. You do not just look through the guidebook. You learn from your mistakes. This also applies to learning English. If you do not speak because you are afraid of making mistakes, your English will probably never improve. So, You do not just study or gain knowledge from a grammar book. Anyway it is important for us to practice actually.

     In my opinion, both experience and knowledge gained from books are important. But it is more important for us to gain the knowledge from experience than that from books. Surely, books give us knowledge indirectly. It is just also process until the effective experience. But experience gives us knowledge at first hand. Through the experience, we can apply the knowledge, which gained from books. If we turn one's previous experience to advantage, we can make new things.

     That is why; we need to gain experience by practice. We can learn a lot of things not only use our brain but through we put into practice, we can learn by myself.So,if we want to gain acquaintance, we need a lot experiences.　It leads to us expand one's knowledge.

Change in Your School

      I heard a complaint about system of university for the last two months. My friends and I often say we are not content with our teaching of English. I disagree the system of this year. So, my primary complaint is system of university. I think there are several reasons for this.

     First, I belong to the department of English. Of course I want to study English more and want to speak it fluently. I thought that I could learn English more and speak with foreign teachers if I enter into this university. However, in actuality, I cannot speak with them. Why do I not speak with them? I think it is because school has a few native teachers. I suggest that college has to increase native teacher. This is because we can learn correct pronunciation from them. Of course without them, we can learn that from consulting a dictionary or listening to the tape or CD. But only that, we cannot gain how to pronounce English or their culture.

     Second, why do we not take the class that we want to learn? This year, I cannot get the class of foreign teachers. From this year, if the class has over complement of students, we have to do drawing. If the drawing fell on us, we can get the lesson that we want to learn. Unfortunately if we do not, we have to take another session. Now, I will suggest a change to solve these problems in our college. It is college of system has only to change. Right then, what should university do? College has only to send out questionnaires to students and they fill out it. Then university has to reflect their opinion.

     Third, there are some elective classes in this university. They are more important than compulsory subject. TOEFL course, TOEIC course and English conversation course・hey are all we needed!! I wonder why that class is not contained compulsory subject? That class is indispensable to student!

     In my conclusion, it is not a quarter as good as I expected. University should change the system at the earliest opportunity. I also think college should increase native teacher. If the system is revised and increase the substantial lesson, we can get the more ability of English.
